Those of you suffering from chronic illness, especially a chronic illness that involves pain, will understand why I’m willing to try anything to dial down the pain.
My pain is caused by Fibromyalgia and Restless Leg Syndrome, although the latter is relieved slightly by Rotogotine Patches.
I’ve tried over the counter medicines, strong painkillers, Pregabalin, changed my diet and as much exercise as my body can tolerate.
None of it worked, not even a little bit. So for me, the time has come to look for alternatives and that means Cannabis or CBD products.
I’m not talking about the type of Cannabis that gets you off your head, I’m talking about Cannabis extracts that are legal to use in the UK.
Another reason I want to try CBD is I am concerned about the effect Opioids in my case Pregabalin are having on my ability to function, not to mention my inability to function when I’m without them.
This post is for information only. I am not offering medical advice or guidance. Always speak to your GP or medical team before trying CBD products.
I am not being paid to write this post. I was gifted CBD products to test on the understanding I offer my unbiased opinion.
I’m not going to go into a long spiel about the science behind CBD products because I’m simply not qualified. If you’d like to get the facts about CBD, visit For the Ageless because they’re the experts.
Incidentally, before we go any further, I want to tell you why I’m happy to recommend For the Ageless?
In the past, I tried CBD Oil from a well-known discount store and a CBD Vape from an independent shop. As much as I wanted them to reduce the pain they didn’t.
So, I went on a quest to find a company that supplied proper CBD products, the type of products I’d heard so much about from fellow bloggers.
And I found For the Ageless
The first thing that struck me about For the Ageless was their website. They clearly understand their products and how they can help people living with chronic pain.
The second thing that convinced me they’re a company I’m happy to associate with was an email I received.
Here’s an extract:
We are sending you some recommendations on how to use your CBD products:
All of the Biopurus CBD oils are raw (whole plant) and certified organic. Pure, full-spectrum and full-plant CBD oil is thick and viscous and has an undiluted hemp flavour.
A Biopurus oil contains all ingredients present in the plant, not only the cannabinoids and terpenoids but also the lipids, plant waxes, chlorophyll, flavonoids and other important phytonutrients present in Cannabis Sativa L.
Unlike other oils, which are either cold or hot filtrated, raw oils are CO2 extracted and the most natural form the extract can be.
In my view, it is very important with CBD to always look for organic brands, as Cannabis Sativa L. is known to be a bio-accumulator – a plant that sucks up everything it can from the ground and air. That can lead to high levels of heavy metals, PAHs and pesticides that can stay in the ground for several years after their last use.
To avoid the presence of possible contaminants it is important to source your hemp extracts from companies that control the end-to-end process, from cultivation to extraction. Biopurus follows these requirements.
When dosing it sublingually*, you need to have the dropper quite close to your mouth to avoid any drops spilling off (we suggest doing this in front of a mirror).
The dropper itself holds around 5-6 drops at most so it’s easy to obtain the correct dose. You can also mix the oil with food or inside a smoothie if you prefer.
Based on the feedback that we’ve received from customers, we have figured that there is no such thing as standard dosage. There is a start dosage, but every person is different and everybody reacts differently to cannabinoids. It all depends on how you dose it and how sensitive you are to it.
A good rule of thumb is to start with the minimum dose recommended on the product’s label for a week and see how you react, whether or not you need to increase it.
Here’s a quick guide on CBD oil: https://www.fortheageless.com/pages/cbd-oil-uk-guide
CBD oil is extremely lubricant and once opened – bottles need to be kept in an upright position to avoid leakage.
CBD bottles are better kept at home in a cool cupboard, away from the sunlight.
For travel, we recommend CBD capsules. We also feature CBD capsules, e-liquids, CBD skincare and teas from other premium European brands like BioBloom, CannabiGold, Love Hemp, Hemptouch and PharmaHemp.

For your e-liquid dosage, please follow the instructions on the product label or our website.
The 1.6% CBD Hemp Tea Bags are made with 100% organic Cannabis Sativa L. flowers and leaves from the Czech Republic. This tea synergises very well with the CBD oil because it provides an extra boost of the cannabinoids and phytonutrients present in the dried plant. Please, allow it to brew for 3-5 minutes, depending on the strength desired.
Do I understand all that? Not a clue!
But, they do, and that gives me confidence that their products are made from quality ingredients and safe to use.
Here are the CBD products I tried:
- Biopurus Organic Hemp Tea Bags
- Love Hemp CBD E-Liquid
- Biopurus Hemp Oil
I started with the tea bags, then e-liquid in a vape and finally the oil. I did one week with each product. I also continued with my regular medication.
Here’s how I got on with them:
Biopurus Organic Hemp Tea Bags
Honestly, I didn’t like them. I don’t think there is anything wrong with them, I just didn’t like the taste. I’m not a fan of tea anyway so it could have been my mind playing tricks.
That said, the taste wasn’t the deciding factor. The pain didn’t subside so Organic Hemp Tea Bags are not for me. That doesn’t mean they won’t work for you!
Love Hemp CBD E-Liquid
I don’t want to encourage you to vape. If you’re a non-smoker or non-vaper try another way of taking CBD.
Fortunately, I own a vape pen. My kids bought it for me last Christmas to see if I could give up smoking. The hemp e-liquid gave me an excuse to take it out of the packet.
The hemp e-liquid contains no nicotine so that’s a bonus. It tastes fine, there is a scent of Cannabis with each puff and it didn’t hurt my throat.
The all-important factor though was did it help the pain?
I’ve got to say “Yes it did – Sort of”.
It didn’t take the pain away completely, but without a doubt, it eased it when it was particularly bad.
My only criticism is the effects didn’t last as long as I’d hoped. So for me, the vape is a short term fix not a long term solution.
I will, however, keep on using it in times of severe pain because any relief is better than none.
Bioporous Hemp Oil
The final test was the Hemp Oil. You simply place 3 drops under your tongue twice a day and that’s it.
It tastes a bit like raw olive oil and has what I can only describe as tiny bits of grit in it. The taste isn’t unpleasant and the grit dissolves fairly quickly.
There is no long-lasting after taste and within a few minutes, you forget you’ve taken it.
Oh the joy of joys, it worked for me. It didn’t eradicate the pain but it took it from a constant 9 on the pain scale to about a 7. Trust me when I say, that is a huge result and a very welcome drop in pain.
What I also found, the more I used it, the less pain I had. The build-up was having a cumulative effect.
Okay, so let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. The pain didn’t miraculously disappear. But any relief is better than none and I’m certainly calling that a win.
Biopurus Hemp Oil + Love Hemp E-Liquid
So you know what’s coming next?
I figured if I take the oil twice a day and top it up with a cheeky vape then I may be able to get the pain down to a 5 or 6. And, that’s exactly what happened!
I’d say, at the moment, I’m at a constant 6 on the pain scale with the odd foray into a 7 or 8.
This is a huge result for me and I have no hesitation in saying it. I’m now wondering what will happen if I increase the strength of the oil?
I’m also wondering what will happen if I reduce the strength of my Pregabalin?
I will discuss this with the pain clinic as you should always seek advice from your GP or specialist before changing your medication dosage.
Does CBD Oil Reduce the Pain of Fibromyalgia?
Yes, CBD oil continues to reduce MY pain with MY Fibromyalgia.
I’d love to tell you it’ll do the same for you but I can’t. I’m sorry, but it’s true. It would be irresponsible of me to make claims I can’t substantiate.
Right now I feel lucky. I’m lucky I’ve found a product that works for me.
I’m not cured, I’m still in pain, I still have days when I can’t move but I also have days when I can function like my old self and frankly I’ll take that any day.
